Dell Technologies, Inc. was founded as PC's Limited by Michael Dell in 1984.  The company went public in June 1988 under the name Dell Computer Corporation, renaming to Dell, Inc. in 2003.  In 2013, Michael Dell completed a management buyout, taking Dell Inc. private with the help of Silver Lake Partners.  Dell announced its intention to acquire EMC Corporation in 2015 for $67 billion.  The deal completed in September 2016.  In July 2018, Dell once again became a public company under the name Dell Technologies, Inc.  The VMware business was spun off from Dell Technologies in November 2021 and is now waiting for approval to be acquired by Broadcom.
